Becoming a member is as easy as signing up below!

Visit us for free! You don’t need to be a member to visit the Sun Gallery & Makerspace.

An annual membership to the Sun Gallery includes access to our gallery. For regular use of our Makerspace, there’s a monthly membership. There are exclusive member events throughout the year and members are consistently updated on free class offerings.

Money collected by the Sun Gallery goes into our exhibits and art programs for children, youth, adults, artists, and art lovers. We are a non-profit 501c3 art gallery dedicated to serving the East Bay. Some of the programs include Summer Art Camp for kids, school art tours, instructional art workshops, and creative programs.

All donations to the gallery are tax-deductible.

2026 Membership Drive

Right now we are run entirely by volunteers, and it’s been tough having no paid staff. Unfortunately, the City of Hayward eliminated all community grants for FY 2026-27 due to budget woes. Your continued support is needed now more than ever!

We are shifting to a new monthly recurring Sustaining Membership program this year. We need 50 members to sign up at an average $20 / month in order to cover $1K in monthly expenses!

Types of Memberships

Sustaining Monthly Membership

Due to funding cuts, we encourage everyone to help support the Gallery & Makerspace by offering a new monthly membership. We offer 3 tiers at $10, $20, and $40 per month. We require a monthly membership for regular use of our Makerspace, free use of our coffee machines, and additional perks provided in the future.

• Low-income / Student: This monthly membership of $10 / month includes Sun Gallery membership + regular use of our Makerspace and courtyard, for students and low-income.
• Individual: This monthly membership of $20 / month includes Sun Gallery membership + regular use of our Makerspace and courtyard.
• Family / Supporter: This monthly membership of $40 / month includes Sun Gallery membership + regular use of our Makerspace and courtyard, for families living in the same household (e.g. 2 adults + 2 children), for yourself + a guest, or for individuals who wish to provide additional support.

Requires a PayPal account. We hope to support alternatives in the future.

Memberships at other Makerspaces in the Bay Area easily cost $100-200 per month, so our Makerspace membership is actually a really good deal!

Special Donor Levels

You may prepay your monthly membership for the whole year by writing us a check written out to the Sun Gallery and mailed to 1015 E Street, Hayward, CA 94541. With a check we avoid credit card processing fees.

Alternatively, you may donate or prepay dues via our fundraiser running on spotfund.com, which we just launched in November 2025.

• Individual (yearly prepaid): $240 $200 (2 months free)
• Family or Supporter (yearly prepaid): $480 $400 (2 months free)
• Gold Level Donor: $1,000
• Platinum Level Donor: $2,500+

Gold and Platinum level donors will be listed as supporters on all our show invitations and programs and in our upcoming 2026 membership newsletter. Please let us know if you wish to remain anonymous.

Legacy Yearly Membership

We encourage you to sign up for Sustaining Monthly Memberships, but if that is not affordable for you, we still offer the following yearly rates, which entitles artists to submit their pieces in exhibits, and include voting rights.

Individual memberships are for working professionals under the age of 65. Individual membership can be upgraded at any time. Individual memberships are for one person in a household. This membership is $40 / year.

Senior membership is for any person over the age of 65. We offer a membership at an affordable rate of $25 / year.

Students of CSUEB or local colleges and High Schools qualify for a Student Membership with ID. This allows younger members to afford membership and all its benefits. Student memberships are $20 / year.

Family memberships are for person(s) living in the same household, including and up to four persons. For example, two parents and two children. Family memberships are $60 / year.
