1965-2025
You are invited!
Sun Gallery 60th Anniversary Celebration Exhibit Call for Art Entries.
The Sun Gallery is pleased to announce its next exhibition entitled:
Sun Gallery: Celebrating 60 Years of Building Community Through Creativity 1945-2025.
What were you doing 60 years ago? Were you still just a twinkle in your mother’s eye, or were you already making art? Whatever the answer, we invite you to join us to celebrate our 60th Anniversary Celebration!
A little fun background on who we are, and where we came from:
In 1965 the Hayward Area of Festival of the Arts, Inc. had a Board of Directors including:
- John O’Lague
- Mrs. Douglas Morrison
- George Oakes, Jr.
- Dr. Karl Ernst
- Mrs. Nicholas Roukes
- Mrs. Robert Travis
- Mrs. Robert James
- Mrs. John Chilton
- Mrs. George Phillips
In 1975, the Hayward Festival of the Arts, Inc. became the Hayward Area Forum of the Arts, Inc., aka the Sun Gallery!
BTW, this is important, if any of you know the founders, families of our founders, prior Board of Directors, or people who have contributed to the Sun along the way (staff, artists, friends, or teachers) please send them our way! We would love to talk to and include them in our year-long festivities!
